It truly makes a difference in perception when listening to colleagues with great voice quality.

I’m certain that at some point in my life I’ll have an office (and I'll get back to this article), but until then: Do you have any recommendations for a portable microphone that can assist someone who works from various locations?

Great question! If you are shooting on a mirrorless or DSLR there are a lot of good shotgun microphones that will help capture your voice, but also filter out the environment noise and wind. Wind is the real killer for a lot of mics used while walking around.

I haven't tried one, but a Lavalier microphone might be effective. My concern is that they have omni-directional sound, so not sure how they do in windy environments.

One thing I was interested in, but I rarely leave my house so I haven't tried it, was the "RØDE VideoMic GO II". It's not too expensive, and you can mount it to your phone. It's a shotgun mic with great reviews, so that would be my first investigation for on the go sound quality!

Thanks for the advice, Coltin!

I’ll check out this RØDE one, as it seems quite comfortable to travel with.
